Busy, but good

Loving my Cross-Disc Feminist Theory class! This week we discussed this and  this.

In my core class for my program we’re covering important information regarding methodologies for research, but I’m not feeling very passionate about it or the class. Maybe that’s just the way this course is going to be, or maybe it will change soon especially once I start using some of it as I write my literature review and craft my proposal. We’ll see.

The film project is turning into a much more interesting process/learning experience than I anticipated. After we finish our post-viewing activities/discussions for two films in the SHRFF, I’m going to be focusing on feminist themed films that can be paired with readings to create a full-fledged curriculum (I’ll be working on this next quarter as well). This will serve not only to create some structure in this otherwise fairly free-form independent/quasi-group project, but also as an additional component to my portfolio and to reference after I graduate, when I’m hopefully on the community college instructor job market.

In addition to my classes, T/Th nanny job and Sun/Thurs overnights, this week I’ve also:

  • assisted for the breast.feeding course of the cbe series
  • met with my WS instructor and had a great meeting talking about my plans for this course, my project and my career plans
  • attended a career night for my program (since we’re the first cohort the guest speakers were chosen to approximate jobs relevant to my degree)
  • had a planning meeting for film fest films

Today, C and I spent the day together including

  • sleeping in and having QT
  • a trip to WF and JJ
  • an interview where even before I left I knew I would not be working with that prospective client (C waited for me while I did this)
  • Thai food late lunch
  • bought this
  • found out that my current client was admitted for signs of preeclampsia, which causes me some stress because I have all day trainings M-Th for cbe that cannot be rescheduled and would be very challenging to make up the content
  • shopping at TJ
  • home to do household stuff, read and prepare for the coming week

Tomorrow is kindergarten class at church, lunch with C and then a cruise around Elliott Bay with our friend D and his beau R. Should be fun! Then home to reading and have our Sunday night television night before overnighting (or going to a birth). Hopefully I’ll finish my reading, cbe class preparation and have everything prepared to attend this birth and/or attend the training.

This week is going to be one of the most intense weeks for quite some time (on par with finals) as I’ll be in training all day Monday after overnighting, all day Tuesday before my normal classes that go until 10 (and which I’m leading for an hour), all day Wednesday before the last class of this series that I’m assisting for and all day Thursday before overnighting again. Wish me luck!

Oh, and for fun I did this:

Your rainbow is intensely shaded white, green, and yellow.

What is says about you: You are a contemplative person. You feel strong ties to nature and your mood changes with its cycles. Those around you admire your fresh outlook and vitality. You’re good at getting people to like you.
